The Surfaces in Sciara

Unique Design for Contemporary Living

The curiosity for natural materials and the experimentation to uncover their innovative characteristics, making them unique, have always represented a fundamental aspect of the company’s research activity.

Sciara is born from the encounter between Paola Lenti and Marella Ferrera and from the creative attention that their eyes, both complicit and competent, have focused on basaltic lava, the solidified volcanic magma known by this name in Sicily.

Sciara is the result of combining the dark and porous surface of natural lava with glass fusions, which give the stone colour and vitality, making it fluid, luminous, and recognizable by a slight and natural craquelure effect, under which the natural imperfection of the stone material shines.

Sciara is durable, compact, and easy to clean, with decorations that emerge spontaneously. It allows for surfaces with unpredictable variations, all imbued with colour and life, the result of artisanal processes that let the material express itself freely.

Since 2016, the company has been producing Sciara tesserae of different dimensions, each unique, to give rhythm and movement to the composition of table, side table, and console tops.

Over the years, Paola Lenti has transformed Sciara into a material that moves beyond products to interior design, developing original projects for both interiors and exteriors in private residences, public spaces, and hospitality projects.

Sciara’s decoration is an integral part of the material, creating a new architectural concept that encompasses every aspect of an interior, from structural and aesthetic to functional design.
